God became Man:

For centuries, God had used His Word and His creation to explain the promised offspring. Prophets fortold it. Priests made sacrifices that taught sin was overcome by a bloody death. When the book of Malachi ended there was 400 years without prophecy, and then...Christmas!

Lesson 2 The Prophetic Christ

The Promise:

The Word "prophecy" in the Bible has two different meanings. The first means proclaiming the Word of God. A pastor or evangelist is a prophet according to this definition. The second means to foretell the future. Once God had made the world, he made a promise, "If you eat of the fruit, you will die." Adam ate it. But he didn't die... right away. God made a dark prophecy to the temptor which was a glorious prophecy for us:

"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and
hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heal." - Genesis 3:15

The rest of history is waiting for this offspring to come. Every prophecy (in the second type) talks about this offspring. waits for this offspring. has faith in this promised offspring.

Lesson 1 The Eternal One

The Entrance:
We begin our study of the Christ in the four gospels with the Christ who was there before the gospels were written. Our theme this week is to discuss the person of the Son that was before the teacher, before the prophet, before the man Jesus was born, or even the man Adam was made of the dust of the ground. The Eternal Christ, the Son of God.
